Yesterday, I promised a photodump of my travels in Japan. And here it is! Nearly 70 of my best shots from Kyoto and Osaka. There's some lovely locations and good Jalop stuff for you Opponauts. Enjoy!

The great thing about this place is that it might be historic and very old, but the public are allowed to walk and cycle through it any time they want! Japan is certainly one of the best conserved places of heritage.

I thought I heard a V8 rumbling. Turns out it was this wonderfully preserved Chevy G20.

Oh! Alfa Romeo SZ! That's a car that I haven't ever seen myself. Japan seems to have gathered many of these but it's still pretty rare spotting.

This Z is actually particularly rare because it's a 1998 J Spec model, but it also appears to be an R. The Z was discontinued in the US in 1996.

I use a Sony Alpha 99, with the 24-70mm Carl Zeiss lens. On one or two of those shots I was using a 70-300mm Telephoto lens.

Kyoto rocks. When I was there it was snowing, and that big orange temple and the bling golden one had white roofs, and all the Kei cars had like a foot of snow on them. Didn't think much of Tokyo though.

Wonderful trip. I spent 11 days in Tokyo and Kyoto a year ago for Sakura. It was an incredible adventure and one that I won't forget anytime soon. Thanks for reminding me of it.

haha, desktop wallpaper! Looks like you took the pic just slightly to the side of "the tree". Shame on you. The tree must be included, no matter how many people are standing there and how much it blocks the building.

Anyway, great series. I haven't been to Osaka yet, next time. I'm going to Singapore for the first time next week, should be fun.

I lived in Kyoto for four years, and my "registered domicile" is in that prefecture (in Japan, we use first address you lived at rather than place of birth, so upon naturalisation, my passport will say I'm from a town in Kyoto prefecture, not where I am currently living) so a lot of this is super familiar to me. I hope you you enjoyed visiting my neighborhood.
